Melrose Day Care and Preschool has a play based philosophy – playing to learn/learning to play.  Our philosophy is based on research by Jean Piaget, who states that play meets the physical, intellectual, language, emotional, and social needs of children.  Play is the first way that children learn to make sense of the world at a young age.  It is by far the most defining characteristic of childhood and the most important aspect of childhood as well.
